Central Finland (Keski-Suomi)

Central Finland is one of Finland's most popular holiday areas, with it's peaceful lakes, rich waters, wild forests, country houses and cruises on Päijänne, Keitele and Keurusselä. You can enjoy the Keuru tourist attractions in the Old Pappila and visit the tourist center Kamana. You can also take a lake cruise from Keuruu to Mänttä. Other popular destinations in central Finland include Jämsä, Keuruu, Saarijärvi and Viitasaari. The most beautiful evergreen forests can be found in the Pyhä-Hakka National Park at the Saarijärvi. There are also good hiking trails in other national parks in central Finland, such as Leivonmäki, Isojärvi and Salamajärvi. The islands of Saarijärvi and Viitasaari are known for their beautiful nature. Popular places to visit at the region are the Wanhat Wehke in Karstula and the Paletti Shopping Center in Kyyjärvi.

Autumn is a busy time in Central Finland, with the theater premieres and cultural events. In winter the ski centers are open. Himos is a favorite destination for skiers, with great slopes, hiking, fishing and ice fishing possibilities, and it is one of the most popular year-round resorts not only in the region, but also in Finland. In addition to Himos, the popular ski resorts are Laajavuori, Häkärintteet and Riihivuori. Ski and snowmobile facilities, hiking areas, attractions, museums and numerous events make sure that holidaymakers will spend a great holiday at the Central Finland .
