Kotkavuono is an idyllic wilderness cabin located in the northeastern corner of Lake Inari, deep in the Vätsäri Wilderness Area. This wilderness cabin offers a unique opportunity to experience the authentic atmosphere and tranquility of the wilderness. The cabin is situated by the shore of Pieni Hietajärvi, just 30 m away. The lake is 750 m long and 200 m wide, with a shallow and firm sandy bottom. A rowing boat and a flat-bottomed boat are at your disposal. Surrounding the cabin is the vast Vätsäri Wilderness Area, providing diverse opportunities for outdoor activities and nature exploration. Forests, hills, lakes, and rivers are all within reach, allowing you to enjoy hiking, fishing, and hunting, depending on the season and your preferences. The vast "wilderness sea," Lake Inari, is only 1.3 km away. Kotkavuono is a traditional wilderness cabin, offering simple accommodation facilities. The cabin features a living area with a spreadable sofa bed, an alcove with a 2 m wide bunk bed, and a loft (please note the steep stairs) with 3 mattresses. The sauna is in the same building, and the wood-burning sauna stove has a water tank for heating. Water for the sauna must be carried from the lake, which is 30 m away. Access to the sauna is through a covered terrace. The kitchen sink in the cabin has a drain. Drinking water should be brought along, fetched from the lake, or collected from a spring 800 m away. Boiling the spring and lake water is recommended. The cabin is equipped with an electric generator and battery. The battery provides power for lighting and charging phones. There is an electrical socket in the cabin.

Please note that the location is remote and far from services, so make sure to bring an ample supply of provisions and necessary equipment! Independent access to the cabin requires skill and physical fitness. The nearest boat ramps are at lakes Nitsijärvi (35-40 km) and Nellim (55-60 km). The hiking trail from the Inarijärvi boat ramp to the cabin is 1.3 km long. The hiking distance from the nearest road (Kessi) is 20-25 km, or it can be skied from Lake Nitsijärvi, which is 35-40 km away. A snowmobile route is 4.5 km away from the cabin. It is possible to drive to the cabin along the ice and marked trail. The owner marks the trail from the route to the cabin location. Round-trip transportation by boat or snowmobile escort can be arranged with the owner for an extra charge. Please be aware of the spring thaw period from early May to mid-June and from early October to mid-December when transportation cannot be arranged due to ice conditions, and access to the location via waterways is not possible. WILDERNESS CABIN: Wilderness cabins are suitable for fishing, hiking, and hunting trips. Their equipment and level of comfort are often more modest compared to holiday cabins. The cabin is not preheated before the customer's arrival. The customer is responsible for cleaning during the stay and upon departure. Due to the long distances, the maintenance staff does not check the cabin after each customer. If the cabin is not cleaned or there are deficiencies, please contact the cabin's caretaker immediately by phone. Customers must bring their own bed linen and towels (these cannot be rented).

  Mökki oli erittäin hyvässä kunnossa ihanan ja kalaisan Pieni Hietajärven rannalla. Vaelsimme mökille Piilolan polkua sekä karttaa ja kompassia käyttäen. Mökin omistaja Kari oli erittäin avulias ja häneltä kannattaa kysyä vene ja moottorikelkka kyytejä mökille.
